AAC Day 3 | INDIANS STILL TOPS THE MEDAL TALLY AFTER DAYS OF ASIAN ATHLETICS CHAMPIONSHIP

After a high voltage, medal hunting Day 1 & Day 2 at Asian Athletics Championship, 2017, with Indian athletes winning majority of the medals, India faced a stiff challenge from the rest of Asia on Day 3. 11 Finals were slotted for the Day with India winning medals only in 5 of them.

The evening started off well with Sudha Singh returning with a GOLD in 3000m Steeplechase. She was leading the pack of the athletes right from the start & ended in the same way. She had only her own company for much of the race and yet finished inside 10 minutes and also ensured berth for London World Championship.

Though it was a successful outing for Sudha, its not the same case in Mens 3000m Steeplechase, where Naveen Kumar, reigning Asiad bronze medalist finished a lowly 7th. Naveen made a gutsy start, but didn't have enough stamina to end with same momentum.

NV Sheena in Triple Jump couldn't register good marks initially, but  improved on her season’s best showing by 11 cm on her final jump and claimed BRONZE ahead of Sri Lankan Vidhusha Lakshani.

400m Hurdles performance in Both Men's & Women's category was the main highlight of the Day, with surprising performances from Anu Raghavan & Jabir MP, winning SILVER & BRONZE respectively.

India signed off  Day 3 with a BRONZE in 100m Women's Relay with determined sprint along with intelligent baton exchange.
