Jyothi Surekha Vennam - A legend of Indian Archery

Indian compound archer Jyothi Surekha Vennam, 26, is emerging as an underappreciated hero. The World Archery Championships is going on in Berlin, but for Indian Archers it is turning out a nightmare in terms of Olympic Quotas. For Jyothi Surekha Vennam 2023 has been phenomenal, the athlete from Andhra Pradesh got the 2023 campaign off to a strong start by matching the qualifying score 713 at the Archery World Cup Stage 1 2023.



In the women's individual compound event, the 26-year-old defeated world record holder Lopez in the final 149-146 to win her first gold medal. Jyoti defeated World No. 1 Ella Gibson in the semifinal round with ease to go to the championship round.
When Jyothi was 4 years old she crossed the Krishna River three times in three hours, 20 minutes, and six seconds. Her feat earned her a spot in the Limca Book of Records. She won a gold Olympic round medal at the 2009 Mexican Grand Prix. She also won two bronze medals in the compound junior women's team and compound junior mixed team competitions at the 2013 World Youth Archery Championships. Jyothi collected two bronze, three silver, and three gold medals in a variety of competitions between 2011 and 2019 in the Asian Archery Championships. For her accomplishments in the realm of archery, she received the Arjuna Award.





She declared that this year was jam-packed with significant championships. Every competition is something fresh to me, thus I never consider my overall goals. Others are considering the possibilities whereas Jyothi may not. “I approach every competition as if it were my first “said Vennam.
