Chennai - Predicting Harmanpreet Singh to score from a Penalty Corner is like predicting Chennai’s weather to be humid and hot. That was the setting for tonight's opponents. It was not a given. Pakistan scored before having it taken away due to foul play and was awarded a penalty corner instead.

15 seconds before the end of the first quarter, India was awarded its first Penalty Corner, in which Harmanpreet converted into a goal. In the second quarter, India was more confident adding a second through another Harmanpreet goal from a Penalty Corner. This is his 7th goal of the Tournament keeping him top in the scoring charts.

India has consistently started second halves well. Today, it was Jugraj Singh the beneficiary from India’s fifth Penalty corner, 5 minutes into the second half. The Navy man smashed his first and India’s third of the match.

Chances came along both the team’s away but they weren’t finished clinically.

The fourth quarter was about keeping a clean sheet and finishing the pool stage on a high. Akashdeep Singh completed the rout as he tapped in from Hardik Singh’s misplaced shot.

The hosts have comprehensively bettered their opponents in every department, Be it on attack and defence, they made sure that didn't give their opponents a chance to have a sniff at the game. 

This defeat means Pakistan are knocked out of the semifinals. Korea and Japan make the cut along with the unbeaten hosts and Malaysia. 

The Semifinals will take place this Friday, as India will take on Japan at the Mayor Radhakrishnan Stadium, Chennai.
