Round 1
Bidhuri in red and Ragan in blue started the match according to their plans with the Indian defending and keeping the American movements restricted, while the American tried to land combinational punches showing his flair and his speed, with Bidhuri attacking well on the counter and going on the offensive in the final 60 seconds.
Round 2
Started well for Gaurav as he landed an early left jab showing his intent, as he looked to gain points in this round after ending a bit short in the first round, with Ragan keeping his defence firm and hitting back on a counter with jabs. Gaurav tried to break his defence which had him land a few punches and miss a few, the American kept his distance to ensure that he had a sizable lead against his opponent to which would have all but confirmed his win if he maintained his composure in the final round and did not face a brain freeze.
Round 3
Knowing that the Indian boxer would go all out Ragan put forth a masterclass by keeping his distance and playing defensive game even as Gaurav had started positively he could not break through and saw his chances of final evaporate.
Result
Four judges scored the fight 30-27 in favour of Duke Ragan with one judge scoring 30-26 giving the American teen a win of 5-0 over the Indian who put forward an impressive display of his skills.
Hopefully we would only see him learn and grow better as he becomes only the second after Vikas Kirshnan to win a medal in his Debut world championship.
