BWC 2017 | PV SINDHU JOURNEY TO THIRD CHAMPIONSHIP FINAL

PV SINDHU's JOURNEY

Every international sport in this world has some tournaments which has special place in player's and fan's heart i.e Major or World Tournaments. These tournaments have the potential to either bring out the best from a lesser player or even turn a better player into mediocre preformer. In the ongoing Badminton World Championships,Indian shuttler P.V.Sindhu has proved that she belongs to the former category(although she is a lesser player by no means).

Sindhu World Badminton Championship

World Tournaments seem to bring the extreme best of Sindhu. After winning the World Championship bronze medals as a teenager in 2013 & 2014 at Gaungzhou & Copenhagen respectively, she created history at Rio Olympics 2016 by becoming first Indian woman ever to win an Olympic Silver. She has very well managed to come out of her senior compatriot Saina Nehwal's shadow & create a space of her own in Indian Badminton. Saina herself has won the bronze medal in this years world championship at Glasgow, unfortunately not managing to better her silver winning effort the last time around.

Sindhu started her journey in Glasgow by defeating Korean Kim H  M. in straight games. She then took on Hong Kong player Cheung Ngan Y. and came out as a winner by 2-1 games in a toughly contested match. Her quarterfinals opponent Chinese Sun Yu proved to be no match for her as she too was defeated in straight games quite comfortably.Semifinal was supposed to be her toughest test till now, but Sindhu overcame even that with ease Defeating Chen Yufei from China 21-13 21-10.She will now take on Japanese Nokomi Okuhara in the final.Ohuhara won't be an easy opponent to overcome because she too has been in red hot form at this year's championship and she defeated Saina in the semis to break the hearts of many Indian fans who were expecting an all Indian final.Okuhara will also have revenge on her mind as it was Sindhu who defeated her to enter the Olympic final. Before the summit clash their head to head record is 3-3.

Sindhu may have assured herself a silver nevertheless which is a great achievement in itself but this time around she will definitely want to change the colour of the medal to mark 27th August as a golden day in Indian Badminton history.

SINDHU Valiant effort in the finals fetches her a silver Medal which is her third World championship medal. Match Lasted for an hour and 50 minutes

Score stands at 21-19 20-22 22-20
